Ted and Lorna’s Story
Ted and Lorna both retired a year ago, and their boys were all grown up and had started families of their own. They slowly came to the realization that it was time to stop maintaining an empty 1500 ft² house, so they began downsizing. They listed their house, which quickly sold to a cute young family, and then purchased a shiny new condo in the Valhalla neighbourhood.
But they still faced the challenge of getting their piano, Lorna’s mom’s dining room suite, and Ted’s high-end home theatre system to the new home. They certainly didn’t want to do it themselves, and despite how much they love and respect their sons, Lorna wasn’t about to let them “manhandle my piano” (her words, not ours!) down the half-flight of stairs. A friend recommended they contact us at Quick Transfer. We visited Ted and Lorna in their home, got a very good understanding of what needed to happen, and provided them with an estimate, which they accepted on the strength of their friend’s endorsement.

Ted and Lorna are very meticulous and organized people. The day before the move, they had done all they could to prepare, and found themselves with time to spare. They ordered Chinese food, which they ate on disposable plates (they had already packed up their dishes) while watching Sleepless in Seattle – a memorable final evening in the home they had lived in for so many years.
On moving day, our crew Justin, Chris, and Jordan arrived and got to work. By the end of the day, Ted and Lorna were completely settled in their new condo. Lorna prepared a simple chicken caesar salad and Ted opened a bottle of wine, and they christened in their first evening in the condo by eating on their balcony overlooking the Red River, watching the sun set.
We sent them our quality survey form a few days later, and they returned it with top marks and the following comments: “The crew was fantastic. Very respectful, relaxed in their approach but focused. Went above and beyond where possible.”
